Mindfulness Concentrations

Concentrations can help calm your mind and body. Concentrations can also be a useful tool to shift your thoughts away from personality patterns by focusing on the repetitive concentration. They can also be used to build or strengthen positive energy.

Below are a few suggested concentrations. You can use a poem, a prayer, lines from or part of a favorite song. Anything positive that might hold your attention.

Example Concentrations

Quote from Mother Theresa

The fruit of silence is prayer
the fruit of prayer is faith
the fruit of faith is love
the fruit of love is service
the fruit of service is peace.

Tibetan Metta (prayer)

May all beings be happy
May they be peaceful
May they be filled with love
May I be happy so I may spread happiness
May I peaceful so I may spread peace
May I be filled with love so I may spread love

Peace Prayer by St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Great Spirit,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

 Quote from Wendy Palmer

If my hips were like a mountain (bring the image of your favorite mountain into your hips)
If my heart was like the ocean (bring your favorite memory of ocean into your heart)
If my mind way open like the sky (bring the view of day or night sky to mind)
